How do I convert a colour photograph to black and white ?
I want rich deep blacks, a wide range of tones, punchy contrasty mononchrome images. I've done grayscale conversions in Photoshop and other editing software but it doesn't look as good as what I'd call "real black n white"

There are a number of ways to convert colour photos to black and white.  It's vital to understand which colours become which shades in greyscale conversion.  If you appy a blue filter what happens to yellow?  Does it turn black, white or gray?
